It's worth clarifying because the slaveholding settler class that has its modern expression in the multinational corporation, and tends to dominate foreign policy, is only one part of America, and a minority at that. America is also home to many unbroken traditions of resistance and has produced countless revolutionaries. Any effort at global reform will be well-served to include the many discontents on this continent. I have lived here 35 years and have never seen such widespread dissent.
