Just twenty years ago, during the second Intifada, it was normal to see Palestinian guests on TV. The Palestinian ambassador was a regular feature. Nobody back then questioned whether Palestinians should be on TV, it was a given that when Palestine is in the news, you bring Palestinian as well as Israeli guests. This even-handedness, as superficial as it was, has been replaced by an erasure that can only be described as “fascist”. The word “antisemitism” was redefined, over the last decade, to criminalize our very identity. To be Palestinian in 2024 is to be automatically assumed “antisemitic” and excluded and silenced.
