You are actually already supporting important causes, if you are a US taxpayer. You support a gigantic arms industry, costing about 1/3 of federal spending, or trillions of dollars each year, as you can read on the back of the 1040 instructions. You are also supporting a class of wealthy investors and executives, thanks to an unfair tax structure that favors the rich. Our votes are supposed to decide among those causes. I do think that healing America’s original sin is important for our long-term well-being, but that’s not what I’m asking here.

What’s at stake this November is to reaffirm that when we say “Never Again!”, we mean it. Do we reaffirm that respect for human life is above else, and if we do, why aren’t our so-called “leaders” listening?
