Even I had not really understood the depth of trauma from the Nakba until now. I was there in Ramallah during the first week, and was agonized just from hearing the planes overhead. Imagine what it was like to be a child in Gaza, hearing the bombs explode and running for shelter, over and over, surrounded by death everywhere. As of last May, the average two-year-old had lived through three episodes of bombing. This is not normal.
