Thank you for this piece Adebayo. As a Palestinian, I always wondered about that alternative. From my book Fugitive Dreams:

"What if I woke up one day in a parallel universe, wherein Uganda (another early candidate) had become the Zionist state? What would the implications be, assuming Palestine remains free? Would I instead be living in Ramleh with my extended family? Would I have traveled as widely as I have? Would I have met the friends I have now? Even more fundamentally, would my parents have even met?

"Stuck in Lydd or Ramleh, what would my reaction be to hearing about the poor β€œchildren of Uganda,” driven by the Zionists into refugee camps? Would I care? Would I even hear about them?"

The double-colonization of Palestine - by the British and the Zionists - made the liberation struggle much more challenging.
