Since its inception, Israel has pretended to speak for Jewish people, while using the star of David as a shield (literally, on its flag) to deflect criticism. Having established itself as a settler society on lands forcefully taken, the legitimacy (or illegitimacy, rather) of that acquisition is never open to question within Israeli society. The only way they can justify disenfranchising 6 million indigenous Palestinians is through supremacist arguments. The supremacy is not a symptom of Zionism, but its raison dโetre.
