For Palestinian Americans like myself, the ongoing Genocide in Palestine is personal. Many of us have family, friends, and colleagues in the Gaza strip. Some have lost family members. The last ten months, for us, have been one long, continuous funeral. Each day we wake up to news and images of new atrocities. Those of you in the USA who only follow the corporate media see nothing of what we see. The death and destruction is meticulously kept from your eyes.

My Poetry Died in Gaza

You don’t hear much about it from us either. In case you haven’t noticed, we stopped going out as much and avoid people. Y’all like to talk about your vacations and gadgets and silly movies and pop culture. We disdain spoiling your mood. Besides, we have no time nor patience for that kind of talk.
