Since 2022, I have been watching certain Palestinian activists on LinkedIn consistently posting memes of pro-Palestine celebrities with a pithy quote. As a Palestinian author with something to say, I found that practice revolting. The celebrities should be using their platforms, to elevate and amplify Palestinian voices, not the other way round.

That said, your list of second-tier celebrities is hit-or-miss. Democracy Now has been around for decades and has consistently stood up for Palestine. Mehdi Hassan lost his job at MSNBC for calling this a genocide. Besides, as a writer, I can see their dilemma. They need to gain followers in order for their pro-Palestine message to reach a broader audience, and advocating for Palestine demands that we do reach that broader audience.
