Silencing any one of us is silencing us all. Thank you, Noora, for taking the initiative on such an important matter!
May I suggest the following streamlined demands to make from Medium? Everyone is invited to comment:
1) Reinstate the account of Aza Alam and the publication Liberation Works.
2) Especially at this time of genocide, censoring or banning accounts that support Palestine is a serious action that amounts to support for the crime of genocide. Not a single account should be banned at this time. We urge Medium to review its policies and procedures to prevent the inadvertent censorship of Palestinian voices by the AI.
3) Banning an account is draconian. The person should be warned and given a chance to respond before the account is taken offline; and afterwards should be notified and given a clear, simple, and speedy appeals process.
4) If a person is banned, the publications that person owns should remain. Otherwise it's not fair to the other writers of that publication.
I believe these are basic and general and fair demands that many other Medium members (not simply Palestine supporters) would endorse. A desperately-needed Medium writer's Bill of Rights, so to speak.
