“I’m scared of the dark, come get me.” Those were the last words of six-year-old Hind Rajab, on an hours-long emergency call from a battered car with the dead bodies of several of her family members. An Israeli tank had them trapped. Nearby, and unknown to anyone at the time, the Israelis had killed the two medics sent to rescue her. An investigation by Forensic Architecture determined that 335 bullets were fired into her car. (Photo from Quds News Network on Twitter)

TWENTY-ONE-LINE PLAN

They say “ceasefire”
I think Hind Rajab
And all the martyrs
Known or unknown
Counted and uncounted

They say “peace”
I see fire
Forging the scales of Justice:
335 bullets,
Or the life of a child?

They say “Two-state”
I dream of the sea
Washing down walls
Purging colonial fantasies
Bleaching scriptural covenants

They say “reconstruction”
I am nauseated by
The stench of their greed
It was always about gold
Wasn’t it?

Whatever they say, I say, (as I always say,) “Free Palestine”
