I would add that, despite all this awareness, popularity of racial slurs against indigenous Americans are still raging. Watching a 5 min segment on MSNBC (the so-called "progressive" channel) in 2022 , I had to take out a notepad to record all the slurs the various guests used as a matter of language:

"out looking for scalps"

"get off the reservation"

"circling the wagons"

Such expressions are extremely painful to Indigenous groups, whose pain and genocide is now packed into worthless metaphors to be thrown around casually by political commentators.
