I don’t like the pessimism of this piece but I cannot help admit to the truths therein. There are alternatives to wiping out the planet in the fight over it. We need to be thinking in terms of what is necessary. Much economic growth and “prosperity” as measured by economic indices is wasteful fluff that harms the environment and hurts our chances for survival. War itself is detrimental to the environment. When you include that factor you see that every war for resources and energy in the long run depletes and uses more energy than it recovers.
