To help Palestine, first decolonize your mind! What two years of genocide have taught me about human behavior

As a Palestinian in exile, watching a world wring its hands while his brethren in Gaza are systematically annihilated, I am brimming with questions. For example,

Why did it take only five days to reinstate comedian Jimmy Kimmelโ€™s show, but two years of genocide are insufficient to raise audible outrage?

Children killed somewhere else in the world? โ€œThatโ€™s not my problem,โ€ many seem to believe. โ€œBut how dare you brutally disrupt my entertainment lineup?โ€ Theirs is the entitlement of empire and manifest destiny โ€” a self-centered superiority claiming some humans matter more than others.

Two years of genocide hone a piercing clarity towards human interactions. It is shocking how many, even among activists, have internalized the values of empire. I wonโ€™t bore you with my entire list, but I will cite a few of the perplexities I encounter.
