As a Palestinian in exile, watching a world wring its hands while his brethren in Gaza are systematically annihilated, I am brimming with questions. For example,
Why did it take only five days to reinstate comedian Jimmy Kimmelโs show, but two years of genocide are insufficient to raise audible outrage?
Children killed somewhere else in the world? โThatโs not my problem,โ many seem to believe. โBut how dare you brutally disrupt my entertainment lineup?โ Theirs is the entitlement of empire and manifest destiny โ a self-centered superiority claiming some humans matter more than others.
Two years of genocide hone a piercing clarity towards human interactions. It is shocking how many, even among activists, have internalized the values of empire. I wonโt bore you with my entire list, but I will cite a few of the perplexities I encounter.
