Growing up in Occupied Palestine, I had similar feelings towards law enforcement. The Israeli soldiers and police were out to get us Palestinians. The suspicion is always there. We stop speaking Arabic or start whispering when they’re nearby lest they give us extra scrutiny. You never know where an encounter with them could end up, many deadly.

Perhaps you aren’t aware that but Starbucks is on the BDS boycott list for supporting Israel and its system of Apartheid against Palestinians. That cup of coffee is helping fuel that injustice. Please consider frequenting local independent coffee shops instead, keeping your money in your local community instead of sending it to a large corporation that donates to racist entities.
