Billionaire Donors and Mega-Celebrities Cannot Whitewash Genocide
A whipping long overdue for a party that refuses to listen, and other election lessons

People will forget what you tell them, it is said, but they’ll never forget how you make them feel. The moment I saw ‘Kamala Harris’ on my ballot, two words flashed in my ears,
‘I’m speaking.’
As a Palestinian American at a time when America is sending the weapons to genocide my extended family, I could not in good conscience vote for a candidate who made so light of my pain. Harris used her position of power on stage, in her introduction to the nation as the presidential candidate of a major party, to silence the weakest members of society, who were only pleading for the lives of their loved ones. She silenced us again at the convention, so that our tales of loss and heartache wouldn’t spoil the ‘JOY’ of her party.
I am no Trump voter. I have been voting Democrat in every election since 2008, until this year that is, when I favored third parties. Like other Arab and Muslim Americans, I have supported the Democrats vigorously, donating my time and money to their candidates.
