As a Palestinian who grew up in my own land under Israeli occupation, I identify more with Black America. The police brutality, the incarcerations, the automatic suspicion, the shoot-to-kill policies. And no wonder. Many police departments in the US train in Israel. Israel is no utopia - they make it look like it by hiding Palestinians behind a racist wall. Safety is an illusion they sell. No one can ever be safe when they oppress others.
