A brave dive into the depths of the cesspool that is today's global capitalist world order, bringing much-needed light to the conundrum we all face. How to create a better world for our children?
The Vietnamese Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh writes in his book Being Peace,
"We have more than 50,000 nuclear weapons. Humankind has become a very dangerous species. We need people who can sit still and be able to smile, who can walk peacefully. We need people like that in order to save us. Mahayana Buddhism says that you are that person, that each of you is that person."
"Letting people enrich themselves from human suffering or the suffering of other beings is something we cannot do."
"Do not accumulate wealth while millions are hungry."
He concludes,
"The only way out is to consume less. Once we are able to live simply and happily, we are better able to help others."
Thank you for this enlightening piece, Noora. I am printing it out for further study.
